WHY IS THAT DOG SO SKINNY ?

WHen I first starting attending ADBA dog shows I was very upset and appalled at what I THOUGHT was unhealthy , skinny dogs who must have been under fed because I could see thier ribs and surely they must be abused.

I was forutnate enough to have quite a  few experienced and knowledgable owners  explained to me that a  high a high performance conditioned dog is a very much loved dog. That the dog is fed the highest of quality of food at a scheduled time and exact amounts of protiens and nutrients.  Owners work with thier dogs on a daily basis with all types of different exercise activities, training and play time which  is good for thier body and helps in keeping that dog balanced and happy. These owners  take the time to make sure thier dogs are groomed to the nines and their health and housing are of the upmost importance.

l        My light bulb moment :    My eureka moment

One of the most important and simple comments that made the most sense to me was that a high performance pit bull should look like a well fit Boxer in that when that boxer holds his muscled arms up to show off his muscles you will see that not only see his  musclar arms  but you will also see a well proportioned frame:  his chest, ribcage, waist and legs .... hence below ....

I am so glad that I looked beyond my own judgemental thoughts as now I can appreciate all the time and effort that goes into a well conditioned high performanced American Pit Bull Terrier
